Highlights
It was a privilege to moderate the panel on single family offices and the type of assets each family invests in and the views on Islamic finance and products .
Bravo to:
-
Mehmet B. who brought to the panel decades of top tier experience in PE and hedge sharing what his private office's criteria of small-medium GP selection is, and more instructional: finding your sweet spot in portfolio construction;
-
Christoph Roos with deep bench, sleeves rolled up, experience in buyouts and mergers in the DACH region offering practical advice;
3.Shah FAHAD Yousufzai an expert in Islamic banking, what is Shariah compliance for financial products, and building financial value while upholding social values.
What was exciting to witness was the delegates' enthusiasm, their active participation in both a broad regional with a targeted global investment thesis.
It was also a privilege to hear directly from the Minister of Finance Mehmet Simsek on Turkey's economic forecast, sectors of development the country is focusing on, and Ibrahim Oztop , CEO of Turkey's Investment and Development Bank on Turkey's demographics which support FDI:s.
#singlefamilyoffices #privateequity #venturecapital Prestel & Partner
Our panel at the Prestel & Partner Singapore forum pulled together 4 different single families' views on investing in alternatives.
Our moderator, CEO of Wealtharc, did an outstanding job herding cats during panel prep and keeping our unruly panel in our lanes: all in fun.
What was clear was each have our own mandates, preferences, but we were aligned on:
-
GP stakes with 10% as bare minimum and another mentioned comfortable at 23%. Noting the regional differences.
-
direct opportunities with built in internal costs makes fees a lesser issue relative to opportunity and risk diversification. It's the carry, waterfall, and preferences. Then, of course there's the deal junkies on the panel and control freaks (we won't name and shame here.:))
-
And tax efficiencies playing a larger role in the construction and regional preferences.
