Highlights
These past months have been super challenging, and being an immigrant mom of 2 - with no support system in a new province - has been a crazy ride.
I spent months figuring out my next steps after my last mat leave, thinking of what I actually wanted/needed for my career, and having deep talks with the Universe for it to show me the right path. And it ABSOLUTELY did.
I am starting a new position at Samuelsohn Ltd. as the new DTC Customer Experience Manager, and I couldn't be happier to have found a successful company, who is not only a reference in luxury and fashion apparel, but who is also an inclusive and responsible employer.
We are a Parent First company, with leaders who understand parenting challenges. We are also a workplace that is welcoming of neurodiversity. Samuelsohn has also been one of the few brands in North America to jump to the frontline fight against Covid. During the pandemic, we changed our entire production line to make PPE for doctors and nurses.
Some friends have asked me why am I stepping down from a VP level to a Manager's role. Well, first of all, it is not a step down, it is a step UP. Finding a company that treats you with empathy, respect, and dignity from the get go is a huge step up. Secondly, job titles are not necessarily a reflection of anything. I see this as a beautiful step of my journey as a CX professional, of which I am very proud of. It is also OK to take different routes other than linear ones to explore different industries, while acknowledging that there is still lots to learn. There always will be, regardless of our title.
My new role is filled with challenges, opportunities and lots of great people beside me to support the goals and visions we have for it. It is the perfect opportunity to put my talent and experience to use, and I am so glad that they think of me as their perfect fit too (after having 100s of applications and interviews that discouraged me, it is a blessing and refreshing to be chosen for your talent, skills and potential alone).
I want to thank Sarah Lauren G. and stephen granovsky for the transparency and integrity throughout this process, for the opportunity, for considering my transferable skills, and for acknowledging my experience and seniority to help elevate our brand to its next level. I promise I will wear my "badge" with pride, and that we will celebrate lots of wins.
I want to say thanks to Sarah, as she was an inspiration from the moment we met. I feel incredibly lucky to have her leadership, as she is a strong, knowledgeable, results driven and kind professional, who knows her sh* in this industry. Thanks Universe, this is an added bonus.

So, today is my birthday.
I had a hell of a year. I mean, a few harsh ones. 2019, a miscarriage. 2020, COVID and a traumatizing labor/delivery experience. 2021, my mom's cancer, and immigrating to a new country. 2022, the start of many personal challenges. 2023, a maternity leave with no support system, moving to a new province, and an abrupt change of my professional journey. 2024, a neurodivergence diagnosis and a crazy job market. I had to face every kind of vulnerability upfront. I had to embrace every version of me, especially the ugly one, broken and exhausted.
I am not ashamed to say that some days, the only reason I found to wake up were my kiddos. I cried multiple times, and felt like the courage and reason to live were gone. My kids are absolutely everything and I make a huge effort to not place this weight on their shoulders, as it is not their responsibility. They do not know the struggles within me. They only know a mom who loves them unconditionally, and who teaches them that it is OK to have big feelings as much as it is OK to say I love you. I thank them for inspiring me to live, and I thank them for putting a smile on my face and gratitude in my heart every day.
I thank my partner, Bruno De Marchi for being by my side, every step of the way (I will not say much, or else I would need an entire article just to thank this man for the friend, dad and husband that he is).
I have reached rock bottom, as my journey was shaken by some cruel people who simply don't care about how their actions may impact others. They made me feel small, and like my feelings were not valid. I felt less. I doubted myself more times than I can count.
However, I also crossed paths with a lot of people that helped me. Again, and again. They are not even 1% aware of the amount of gratitude I have for them, even if I have thanked them many times. I don't think they know how each of them has saved me a little.
So I've decided that TODAY marks my new debut as my best version for the following years. I hold power over me, and I know I am confident, strong, smart, genuine, loving, creative, and fun. I am a good person. I am worthy.
May this be a reminder that we are all fighting battles that no one knows. LET'S BE KIND.
May YOU, reader, know that I am here for you. I see you. I have my arms open to listen/read you vent, and express your feelings - even if we never met, or if you feel like you have no one. You got me and you are NOT alone.
Thank you, universe, for the gift of living another year. For being able to breathe, for having a home with a stocked up fridge, for having a family to hug me in person today (as an immigrant, this is a priceless gift), for my husband and children, for my health, and for the goodness surrounding me.
Thank you for my strength that, although wears very thin some days, never ends.
May this be a year filled with courage, self love, boundaries, respect and gratitude.
May we all smile genuinely.
Happy day, everyone 🤍🌼
