Huge shout out to Patti Miller and Carolyn Lyons and the Too Small To Fail team at the Clinton Foundation for a brilliant day of learning and cross-pollination last week! And what a privilege to join a panel led by Meeghan Prunty with Tonia M. Spence from the Irving Harris Foundation and Dana Bourland, AICP from JPB Foundation exploring pathways for #philanthropy at the nexus of early childhood development and #climatechange.

Leveraging a report on climate philanthropy and funder archetypes authored by Randall Kempner with The Aspen Institute's Energy and Environment Program and supported by Morgan Stanley Private Wealth Management, the conversation reinforced the link between #environmentalhealth challenges wrought by climate change and early childhood development, particularly its disproportionate impact on lower-income families and communities.

Stephanie Dreyer led a powerful, lights out conversation w/ Gary Knell, Nathaniel Kendall-Taylor, and Liz Hurtado on (re)framing the climate narrative in a way that engages vs. discourages (via familiar apocalyptic scenarios).

And a new book by author Frederica Perera, a professor of Environmental Health Sciences and director of the Center for Children's Environmental Health at Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health shared insight from her new book on Children's Health & The Peril of Climate Change, exposing the unique vulnerability of the developing child and the growing power of youth advocacy, #environmentaljustice, and Indigenous groups.

My head and heart are full after an extraordinary week of inspiration toward action in #miamibeach with our Private Wealth Management family at Morgan Stanley and fellow climate advocates at Aspen Ideas: Climate. #aspenideasclimate

On International Women's Day, we convened ~150 friends and colleagues at The Bass Museum for "Exchange 2023: Transformational Philanthropy". With issues ranging from "The Purposeful Entrepreneur" and "Join the Club" on peer networks to "Superwomen!" and "Winning the Race to Net Zero", we covered the art of philanthropy with givers and tools across the spectrum. The takeaway? Philanthropy remains the highest form of risk capital and must adapt - rapidly - to activate sidelined capital and meet a wider range of rolling crises. Like anything in life, #philanthropy requires intense practice... so experiment. Today!

Meanwhile down the street at Aspen Ideas: Climate, we convened an expert group led by Randall Kempner and Susan McDowell focused on a joint report with Aspen's Energy and Environment Program on "Funding Climate Action: Pathways for Philanthropy". We encourage you to read and share the report which explores climate action through the lens of funder archetypes ranging from traditional philanthropy to impact investing. #climate

Thank you to all our speakers, friends, and collaborators over the past week. We deeply value you, your expertise, and partnership!
