Chad King

Sustainability Director at University of Denver

Chad King is the Director of the Center for Sustainability at the University of Denver. He launched the Center for Sustainability in 2012, working across campus units to connect institutional and regional practices to the curriculum.1 Prior to his role at the University of Denver, Chad was faculty in Environmental Science at Ohio Dominican University.1

Chad earned his master's and PhD in Sustainable Agriculture from the University of Arizona.1 He currently serves on the board of Transportation Solutions and is a member of the Mayor's Bicycle Advisory Committee.1

Under Chad's leadership, the Center for Sustainability has grown from a small group of dedicated students and a single full-time coordinator to a lively, accomplished community of passionate undergraduate students, graduate fellows, and two full-time staff members.2 The Center has initiated various sustainability programs on campus, including starting a bike shop and beginning the Zero Waste hockey program.2

It's important to note that as of fall 2022, a new leadership team joined the Center, transitioning its focus from sustainability towards a regenerative future.2 This shift represents a paradigm change in the Center's approach to environmental and social issues.
