How do you value art? Is it the age of the artwork, the size of the frame, the reputation of the artist, the provenance of it, the inspiration behind it, the aspiration of the buyer, the ego of the seller, the materials used, the beauty of the work, the emotional attraction, the market dynamics, the condition, significance, history yada yada yada. Actually, it could be all of the above, none of the above, or a mix of a few. No one actually knows. There is no DCF value, ready reckoner rate, book value, PE ratio, and so on. As more Indians begin to buy art, the question becomes increasingly important. So how does one truly value art?

Ps. I really wanted to own this painting I saw at MOMA by Jackson Pollock, but I was told it was ‘priceless’ and not for sale. So I bought a $20 print from the gift shop, framed it, and it looks the same on my wall, albeit from a distance :)
#branding #logodesign #sundaymusings
I met a startup founder last week building a premium CPG business, but his company logo looked like it was pulled out of a childrens nursery book! When I prodded him a bit he said he’d never really bothered about it until I brought it up. Which got me thinking about this too.
Your brand logo isn’t just a random image - it’s the underlying face of your company. Think of it as your business’s first handshake with the world. A great logo can make you memorable, build trust, and set you apart from the competition. For all you founders out there, putting thought into your logo from the get-go is a smart move. It’s a small thing that speaks volumes about your brand’s identity and values. Moreover, a thoughtfully designed logo can enhance brand recall, create emotional connections with your consumers, and convey your company’s mission and ethos. So, as you gear up to build your business, remember that a strong logo can make a big difference.
