I had a wonderful evening last night being recognised as one of Google for Startups Top 30 Alumni Portfolio.

It was a great reflection of an amazing journey, filled with learning, growth, and meaningful connections. Looking back, I’m reminded of the pivotal moment in 2021 where Syrona Health was as one of the first recipients of the Google for Startups Black Founders Fund in Europe.

This recognition has played a significant role in the evolution and growth of Syrona Health and I’m incredibly grateful for the support and guidance from Google.

It was a fantastic to catch up with familiar faces, share our experiences, and discuss our visions for future growth and innovation. Special thanks to Mariama Boumanjal, Agnieszka Hryniewicz-Bieniek, Benjamin N'gonga, and the entire Google for Startups team. Your support has been invaluable in our journey.

Excited for what the future holds and looking forward to continuing this journey of impact and innovation.

What an amazing few days at HLTH 🦄 with Anya Roy representing Syrona Health

I had a wonderful time networking with health plans, investors, providers, and fellow founders throughout the last 3 days. Thank you to everyone who shared their learnings!

There were of course some key learnings that stood out in the panel/talks throughout the conference:

💻 AI's Growing Pains: The challenges and potential of LLMs in healthcare, notably its current accuracy limitations due to hallucinations. However, there’s potential to increase this accuracy through training with real world data.

📲 The DTx Landscape: Discussions on Business model approaches Direct-to-Consumer vs B2B2C/Prescription model in the Digital Therapeutics sector with the pros & cons discussed based on the intertwined challenges new regulatory hurdles and protracted funding cycles.

🧬 The Future of Genomics:

Biology (new discoveries) - Protein language models—LLMs trained not on English words but rather on protein sequences have demonstrated the ability to intuit the complex patterns and interrelationships between protein sequence, structure and function. There's excitement on how this can be applied to Genomics and other -omics. Bedside (how will the tech get to patients?) - Why can’t genomic tests be utilised more in Primary Care? The use case hasn’t always been clear but with exciting advancements in Microbial cell-free DNA (mcfDNA) this is becoming more accessible.  Bill (who pays?) - Payors have a role to pay but the focus is often on indication based models however the most effective way of genetic testing is the whole genome. With new entrants, the cost of whole genome testing is expected to drop below $100 in the near future however, prevention isn’t yet always incentivised.

To the phenomenal individuals and teams I had the pleasure of interacting with at #HLTH2023, thank you for sharing your insights and driving the healthcare sector forward. Here's to more collaborations and advancements in the future! 🚀
