Having pursued a Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch.) in Architecture Design from Hebei University of Engineering, a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Computer Science and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Computer Science from Virginia Tech, and a Master of Fine Arts (M.F.A.) in Computer Art from the University of Alaska Fairbanks, Chao Peng has a diverse educational foundation.

Chao Peng's professional journey includes roles such as Assistant Professor at Rochester Institute of Technology, former Assistant Professor at University of Alabama in Huntsville, and former Assistant Professor at Southern Polytechnic State University.

Prior to academia, Chao Peng's experience extends to research and creative roles, including being a former Research Associate at the Institute for Creativity, Art and Technology at Virginia Tech, an R&D Rendering Intern at DreamWorks Animation, and Graduate Research Assistant positions at both Virginia Tech and the Arctic Region Supercomputing Center.
