Our monthly Inova Clinical Excellence Council (ICEC) virtual meeting was a week ago today. A tactic to promote participation is The ICEC Participation Trophy! Our process is....unconventional:
- We have an entirely subjective process for selecting the winner.
- We add a touch of humor and sarcasm to the winner's trophy acceptance by asking the winner questions like "Where does winning this award stack up amongst all your career achievements?"
- The trophy is obnoxious and is designed to be worn as a necklace with a MacGyvered chain made of paper clips.
The image below shows our previous winner, Kendra Davis, passing the award to our latest winner, Christopher Chiantella.
We know the concerns about participation trophies: that they symbolize coddling and that just showing up is enough to receive a special accolade. But let me tell you, the ICEC Participation Trophy has been a hit so far! Corniness and fun can take you further than you may think!
