Dr. Charlene C. Wu is the Vice President of Human-Centered AI at the Toyota Research Institute (TRI). She leads interdisciplinary teams focusing on behavioral science, machine learning, and human-computer interaction to develop AI technologies that empower human decision-making and improve the human experience.134

Dr. Wu has an extensive background in behavioral science and AI research. Before joining TRI, she held leadership roles at companies like Uber, where she headed Uber Labs (Behavioral Data Science), and Airbnb, where she was the Behavioral Science Lead. She also served as a Strategic Advisor at Stitch Fix and has experience as a research consultant.2 Her academic credentials include a Ph.D. in affective neuroscience from Stanford University, supported by prestigious fellowships such as the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship.2

Dr. Wu is also actively involved in fostering inclusive work environments and participates in TRI's Women and Allies, Parents, and Asian groups.1
