Dr. Charles Batte, a dedicated individual with a background in public health and a strong commitment to sustainable development and social entrepreneurship.
Born in Kamwokya, Uganda, he experienced firsthand the challenges of poverty, crime, and insufficient health services, shaping his passion for social responsibility.
Recognized for his impactful work, Dr. Charles Batte has received prestigious awards such as the World Merit Global Ambassador for Social Entrepreneurship and the Global Laureate Fellow by the International Youth Foundation.
His achievements also include being a finalist in the HRH the Prince of Wales Award for sustainable living entrepreneurs and winning competitions like the US Department of State - Global Innovation through Science and Technology (GIST) and the United Nations Framework on Climate Change Conference (UNFCCC) Youth Video Award.
Dr. Charles Batte's advocacy efforts have taken him to various international platforms, including speaking engagements at events like the Global Entrepreneurship Summit in Nairobi and the World Forestry Congress.
Currently serving as a Health Economics Research Fellow at Makerere University Lung Institute, his work focuses on infectious disease modeling, health economics, and cost-effectiveness analysis to address critical healthcare questions for patients and policymakers.
His educational background includes a Master's in Public Health from the University of Liverpool, a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from Makerere University, and completing the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education in Physical Sciences at St. Mary's College Kisubi.
With a rich organizational history, Dr. Charles Batte has held positions such as Climate Advisory Council Member at Pathfinder International, Research And Development Scientist at Makerere University, and Founder of various initiatives like Tree Adoption Uganda, MOBFIT LTD, and Family Health Centre in Wakiso.
His commitment to community development and youth mentorship is exemplified by his role as a World Merit expert for the UN's Sustainable Development Goal 3 - Health and Well-being, where he guides youth globally in the healthcare sector.
