Highlights
I am all for states rights, but a patchwork of state laws has created real challenges in a range of policy sectors, from food date labeling to data breach (and many regulations in between). CA moving fwd on #AI regulation may spur action in Congress, but also runs the risk of making AI regulation more complex and confusing to comply with as more states follow. Congress has started this discussion and is the right legislative body to lead it. Great coverage by Lara Korte at POLITICO.
It’s that time of year when everyone is focused on whether the Congress will pass a budget (or extension of current funding) or if the government will shut down…I don’t think a shut down is likely and have outlined my reasons below (I hope this ages well…).
