Holland & Knight LLP
Kudos to these talented deal lawyers and Bloomberg Law who are helping shed light on a very real phenomenon in law practice today. Aside from the tacit suggestion that the only image of a successful black deal lawyer is one who attended an ivy league law school, this article could not be more on point. Over the course of my career thus far, I have been a corporate partner at two different AmLaw 100 law firms where I was the only black corporate partner during my tenure. During this time, I have had the pleasure of mentoring young corporate attorneys of color who someday will help change this trend as they ascend to partnership. To these young lawyers I say, the road will be challenging but you belong here and there is room for you here even if you did not attended an ivy league law school. #diversityinlaw #diversityequityandinclusion
