When was the last time you sat down with the 4-5 key differentiators of your offering and wrote customized messaging for each key player on the buying committee?

Never? You're not alone.

Most businesses don't take the time to cater product/marketing/brand messaging to the people making the decisions and influencing the decision-makers.

It sounds tedious, but it's a blast and a half to do and easier than you think (if I'm working on it with you, obviously). I'm a total nerd for this kind of word development and it makes all the difference in the world.

Let's say you offer a solution for SMBs in the home services industry that will help with employee retention by automating review generation and attribution. The buying committee comprises the business owner, her general manager, a marketing manager, and an office manager.

You can wax poetic and speak in platitudes (like your competitors) about employee retention because everyone at the business cares about employee retention, but each of these stakeholders has a different reason for caring about employee retention. You have to speak to those specificities to sell yourself.

📈 The owner wants to grow his business knowing her workforce is stable and able to deliver stellar service and get 5-star reviews every time. For her, it's less about the "how" and more about the "now."

🏆 The general manager wants to be able to identify training gaps, uplevel his team's skillset, and reward his top employees in real-time.

🤦🏻‍♀️ The marketing manager wants to spend less time marketing open positions and battling bad reviews about subpar employee experiences and even worse customer experiences caused by unhappy workers.

🫠 And the office manager? She wants to spend more time on mission-critical tasks and less time onboarding and off-boarding new employees and putting out fires with unhappy customers as a result of unhappy employees.

With customized messaging for each stakeholder about each of your core features, your sales team can work smarter, your marketing becomes more personalized, and you can create more meaningful content for lead nurturing.

Want to take your messaging up a notch and speak to buyers in a way that undeniably moves the needle? Let's talk: https://www.viv.marketing

Exhilarating. Anxiety-inducing. Empowering.

These are the words I'd use to describe what it feels like to submit the first draft of my first article to my first client (a SaaS company) as a full-time freelancer with my own business.

Whew. 😮‍💨 I did it. Did I do it? I did. I really, really did!

Here's to the next article, the next client, and the next moment of exhilaration mixed with anxiety mixed with empowerment.

I'm in my "anything is possible" era. Are you?
