Chelsea Pierce

Doctoral candidate of Art History, Courtauld Institute of Art

Chelsea Pierce is an accomplished individual with a strong educational background and diverse professional experience in the field of art and museum studies.

She holds a BA in Anthropology with a minor in Art History from the University of Oklahoma, graduating magna cum laude, and an MA in Museum Studies from New York University.

Chelsea's career includes working as a Curatorial Assistant for Contemporary Art at the Dallas Museum of Art, where she contributed to various exhibitions, publications, public programs, and managed the Awards to Artists grants program.

Her research interests encompass post-war international art, conceptual art, photography, and themes related to decentralizing and decolonizing Western art history.

Currently pursuing a PhD in Art History at the Courtauld Institute of Art, she is focusing her research on the Gorgona Group, a neo avant-garde art collective based in Zagreb from 1959-1966.

In addition to her academic pursuits, Chelsea has gained valuable experience through roles such as Teaching Assistant at Courtauld Institute of Art, Curatorial Intensive Coordinator at Independent Curators International, and Curatorial Intern at various institutions like The Drawing Center and the Brooklyn Museum.

With a Certificate in Drafting from Tulsa Technology Center-Lemley Campus and a background that includes positions at prestigious organizations like the Philbrook Art Museum and the Brooklyn Historical Society, Chelsea's expertise and skills are vast and varied.
