Chelsea Woodard

Chelsea Woodard, Ph.D., is an accomplished poet, educator, and yoga instructor based in New Hampshire. She is currently an Instructor in the English Department at Phillips Exeter Academy, a role she has held since 2018.14 Dr. Woodard holds a Ph.D. from the University of North Texas and an M.F.A. from Johns Hopkins University.14

She is the author of three poetry collections: "At the Lepidopterist’s House" (2023), winner of the 2022 Michael Waters Poetry Prize and the 2024 Poetry by the Sea Book Prize; "Solitary Bee" (2016); and "Vellum" (2014). Her work has been featured in prominent literary outlets such as The Threepenny Review, Blackbird, and Southwest Review, and in anthologies like In the Tempered Dark: Contemporary Poets Transcending Elegy (2024).12 Dr. Woodard has received several accolades, including a Walter E. Dakin Fellowship from the Sewanee Writers’ Conference and the 2024 Peter Heinegg Literary Award from Union College.1

In addition to her teaching and writing, she is a certified yoga instructor (RYT-200) and actively teaches yoga classes.13
