Highlights
It's hard to know where to start when describing the fun and success of yesterday's ACT-IAC 45th Anniversary Charity Golf Tournament at Lansdowne Golf Club! 120+ attendees had the opportunity to not only play a beautiful course, but also to hear about and contribute to the missions of two great charity organizations -- VetSports and Loudoun Backpack Buddies. ACT-IAC exceeded their fundraising goal for the charities at this event and we all had a blast at the dinner and Winner's Circle reception! In addition to the golf trophies, there were tons of raffle prizes and lots of winners! Many thanks to the amazing ACT-IAC staff as well as Melvin Brown II (OPM Deputy CIO) and Marty Cummings who served as co-chairs of the event. And special thanks to the Beverage Cart Sponsors - Evans Consulting and Recorded Future and to Trustwave Government Services for sponsoring a golf hole and the Closest to the Pin Award! And deep gratitude to all the donors who provided raffle prizes, including American University Athletics, the Washington Capitals/Caps Care Team, River Sea Chocolates, The Local Cut Restaurant, Jim Cook, Lansdowne Resort, Gwen Johnston, Covalent Spirits, River Creek Country Club and anyone I inadvertently missed! It was a truly spectacular day that wouldn't have been possible without the generosity of many people in the GovCon community! #govcon #actiac #charity #vetsports Christina Binhack, SHRM-CP Kisha Hemphill Powell, MS, CMP Natalie Horton Carol Miller Martin Cummings Melvin Brown II Sean DuGuay Jeff Powell Kathleen Cowles Ann-Marie Johnson Martin Mackes Janet Clement Debbie Dowling Mahala Horseman Mia Jordan Randy Tharp James Cook Colleen Kennedy, CMP Dhaval Shrimankar Michael Agrillo Jon DeLapp Bill Rucker Jennifer Yang Paul Chandler Andrew Powell Grafton deButts Dave Wennergren Malcolm Harden Allen Ashbey Brian Bonacci Matt Bugbee, PMP Samuel Hale II, MPA, CSM Lyndsey Hoe Varun Malhotra Harrison Smith Carly Fallin Jeffery Nulf Andy Lieber, MBA Amanda Eamich
For those of us who live in Loudoun County, VA (one of the richest counties in the country), it's hard to imagine that there are children here who don't have enough to eat, but it's a stark reality. That's why the Backpack Buddies program exists. I became aware of this need through Melvin Brown and Feds Feed Families (FFF), an annual government-wide food drive program, supporting Backpack Buddies Foundation of Loudoun, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to ensure no school-aged child goes hungry. Program participants confidentially receive bags of food to take home for the weekend (and long school holidays) that include meals, milk, and snacks. A donation of $500 can feed one school aged child for a year. We will be accepting both monetary and food donations to support this charity at the ACT-IAC charity golf tournament this Monday, but you don't have to be there to donate.
