I’m happy to share that, tomorrow, I’m starting a new position as Senior Engineering Manager at NBCUniversal!

Today is my last day at The Atlantic. It’s been a tremendous 6.5 years in terms of personal and professional growth. When I started, Product & Technology were two handfuls of people. As I’m leaving, it’s an entire organization of teams and focus areas, including an entire dedicated customer care team. It wasn’t always easy, there were rough patches for sure. Without those though I don’t think I would be who I am today. I’m very proud of what we accomplished together. Yes, that sounds super generic, but I am not quite sure how to encapsulate it all while remaining brief.

I’m no David Bradley, but I will drop one orthogonal anecdote with the intent, in a roundabout kind of way, of showing my appreciation for The Atlantic and my sadness in departing. In my tenure at The Atlantic my family grew by three additional children. My first paternity leave here was modest, but by the time I had my third child, Phineas, The Atlantic had extended the paternity leave benefit considerably, making it stand out from other organizations. I cannot express enough my gratitude for the generous, progressive paternity leave benefit. Without it, I would not have the relationship that I have with Finn, nor would I have forged the bond that I have with my youngest, Adelaide. I was able to be present and a part of their lives during the critical fourth trimester, and keep the machinery of our daily lives humming and moving as Alicia recovered. The Atlantic Walking the Walk there with that spirit of generosity. I’ll miss that spirit, but intend to keep it wherever I go.
