Highlights
Devastated. Sad. Angry. No pissed actually. How do you comprehend how there can be such evil in the world to ambush an officer when their only goal was to come to your aid.
In addition to all of those emotions, I'm also absolutely in awe of the support from not just his friends, neighbors, and fellow First Responders but the entire community… the entire region for that matter. So many have come forward with incredible things to say about Officer Mitchell.
This hero was not just a neighbor but a friend. I will miss so many things about this incredible human, the least of which is his giant Colgate bright smile that would light up any room. I'll miss seeing him play with his 3 young kids in his front yard. I'll miss his boisterous voice yelling “HEY DUNK” as I would drive into the cul-de-sac.
They say people won’t remember what you did, but they’ll remember how you made them feel. In the case of Officer Jamal Mitchell, people will not only remember how he made them feel but also the ultimate sacrifice he made serving his community.
While his service to our community came to an end on May 30. That’s the same day our service to his three kids and his family began.
Please help us share his story, his legacy, and if you would please consider sharing the GoFundMe link below.
Rest in peace, my friend. You will NEVER be forgotten, and your kids will be reminded daily of the hero you were both in life and in death. 💔
