Founder & Executive Chairman @ Propeller Industries, a CFO and accounting partner to venture-stage companies

Chris Fenster is the Founder and CEO of Propeller Industries, a company he established in 2008 to provide fractional finance and accounting services to venture-stage companies.12 With over 17 years of experience, Fenster has built Propeller Industries into a leading financial partner for high-growth businesses, serving over 400 clients who have collectively raised more than $4 billion in capital.2

Before founding Propeller Industries, Fenster spent 13 years as a full-time CFO for four early-stage companies, including an apparel manufacturer (Swobo Clothing), an e-commerce/wine club operator (Signature Wines), a beverage company (Bevology), and a non-profit managing finances for over 300 other non-profits (Tides Center).12

Fenster's entrepreneurial journey began in 1992 when he left Peterson Consulting to join a small bike shop. Within two years, he and his partner had transformed Start to Finish into one of the largest independent bicycle dealerships in the US, eventually selling it to Trek Bicycle Corp.1

Educated at Colgate University with an A.B. in Economics and Political Science, Fenster has also served on the boards of Juma Ventures and the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition.1 Outside of work, he enjoys cycling, skiing, and photography, and spends time with his wife and two young sons.1

Under Fenster's leadership, Propeller Industries has grown to a team of over 300 full-time finance executives, entrepreneurs, and accountants, with offices in several US cities including San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York, Austin, Boulder, and Sun Valley.23
