Chris Greer

Senior Executive, Standards Coordination, CHIPS R&D Program

Dr. Chris Greer serves as the Director of the National Coordination Office for the Networking and Information Technology Research and Development program.

His role involves formulating and promoting federal information technology research and development to align with national objectives, reporting to the Office of Science and Technology Policy.

He holds a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of California, Berkeley, and has a background as a Senior Advisor for Digital Data at the NSF and as an Associate Professor at UC Irvine.

Dr. Greer has extensive experience, having served as the Executive Secretary for Long-lived Digital Data Collections Activities of the National Science Board and currently Co-Chairs the Interagency Working Group on Digital Data.

He is actively engaged in various committees and councils, including the Advisory Committee for the National Archives and Records Administration's Electronic Records Archive and the Digital Library Council of the Federal Depository Library Program.
