Highlights
Ok #yeg hivemind, I have a very specific but super important ask about our local #Hindu community.
I am trying to convince a VP in my company to relocate from Toronto to Edmonton. He's only lived in TO with his wife and son for a couple years, but she is especially connected to her culture and the orthodox version of their religion. She happens to be an accomplished classical singer and fears that community won't exists here - for her to teach or sing.
He is here this week and with tomorrow being #Janmashtami, Lord Krishna's birthday, he was going to try and check out how strong our community is for his family.
Who can help, knows someone who might help, or would like to help?
This employee is amazing and I am confident their lives would be so much better here than in a 900' foot apartment in Toronto which probably costs 30% more, and other costs are dramatically less here.
Feb 29th will always remind me of my old boss and work mentor. He was a leap year baby. Stan was a hard driving son of a gun who would make every day a mystery, often miserable, but always productive.
But he was clear. Learn hard and work hard and he would give you untold opportunity. If you ever gotta a "my boy" from him, it would make your month.
An Edmonton and waste industry icon. Happy birthday old boy. RIP Stan.
