A little over 5 months ago, I took a step back from my full-time job to spend more time with our first baby boy. The support I received from my friends, family, and professional colleagues was simply overwhelming. Despite all the words of encouragement, it was definitely a little nerve-wracking in the moment. But looking back, it was undoubtedly the best decision I've ever made.
Today, after a summer full of reflection, rejuvenation, and so many unforgettable "firsts," I'm thrilled to announce that I'm back in the game and joining SmithGeiger Group as their SVP of Content and Marketing Strategy.
A sincere thank you to Seth Geiger, Dave Smith, and Ethan Titelman for believing in me and bringing me on board. I wanted to be very intentional about my next career move, and the SmithGeiger team made it so easy by checking every important box: the people, the culture, the capabilities, the client service, and the thirst for innovation are all second-to-none. Not to mention this will be my third time working with Ethan, who taught me just about everything I know about the entertainment market research space - in more movie-friendly terms, I guess you could say he's my Yoda.
If you're in the entertainment space and looking for a fresh perspective from a full-service market research and creative strategy agency, let's talk!
And if there's anyone out there who has thought about temporarily stepping away from work to spend time with their growing family (something tells me I'm not alone), I'm always happy to chat and share what I learned from my experience.
Coming up for air to celebrate a fantastic domestic opening for BAD BOYS: RIDE OR DIE. The Sony marketing team deserves a ton of credit as the odds were stacked against this movie:
❌ Will Smith’s first major release post-slap ❌ A depressed theatrical marketplace that has been particularly unkind to action films ❌ Impossible to replicate the pent-up nostalgic excitement that surrounded BAD BOYS FOR LIFE, which was the franchise’s first installment in over 15 years ❌ While WOM appears to be great, the movie had no inherently-marketable “big idea” or major cast addition
Somehow, the team still willed BBROD to an opening that was within 10% of BBFL. The confident and high-energy trailer, the hilarious ESPN promos with Jimmy Butler, and the pitch-perfect press tour for Smith (including his Hot Ones appearance) are just a few examples of how Sony knocked this one out of the park.
I expect BAD BOYS to have solid legs and challenge APES and TWISTERS for the title of biggest non-MCU action movie of the summer. Now let’s keep that momentum rolling!
