I am one of the many laid off by Twitter’s massive staff cuts, and one of the very few who contributed to and grew Twitter’s Editorial Curation team for much of its seven years, starting with the Twitter Moments launch in 2015. It is no exaggeration to say that this team and experience has profoundly impacted me. We’ve made many Moments – and moments – together.

We had the best jobs at Twitter. It was our responsibility to explore and understand the public conversation on Twitter more than anyone else, and to utilize that understanding to inform others – whether they be the people using the app or other teams within Twitter developing content-driven products or features.

The work was gratifying, though it’s the people and our culture that I am reflecting on most. That whole #OneTeam and #LoveWhereYouWork business that outsiders often look upon with (fair) skepticism? It’s the real deal. At least, that was my experience. For many of us, I suspect finding another rewarding job will be the easy part. Finding another team culture with friends, empathy, honesty and mentors at every level of the org, like ours, will be the hard part.

An ask for my network: Help us get this team hired to those remarkable jobs and cultures. If you have openings on your team that might interest this group, regardless of your mission or location – please get in touch. I’m checking all DMs here and on Twitter. We’re coordinating all opportunities with our team, and I can make many recommendations. Even if you don’t have a position available but are interested in networking for future prospects – there are talented folks here that you must talk to.

In particular, the team I oversaw is a group of highly adaptive editorial specialists in the US and Canada skilled in several areas, including:

⚡ Breaking news and editorial production ⚡ Misinformation detection and verification ⚡ Civic integrity and politics ⚡ Project management ⚡ Data analysis ⚡ Standards and training ⚡ Content strategy and planning ⚡ Operations ⚡ Human-in-the-loop systems ⚡ News partnerships

As for me, I’m #opentowork and to just about anything – for the right team or mission. I’m motivated to continue developing as a people manager, but also willing to shift my focus to projects and innovation depending on the team and company. I do know I want to help people, one way or another. I’m thinking a lot about what that means and how I can have the most positive impact. If you think your team needs someone like me (optimistic, empathetic, detail-oriented), let’s talk.

What I was working on: ⚡ Leading a team of 8 through significant uncertainty and change ⚡ Approver for Curation’s 2022 US Election strategy ⚡ A pilot program to enable high-focus learning+development ⚡ Oversaw our misinformation program with The Associated Press, Reuters, AFP and Meedan Labs (reassigned in Q3) ⚡ Team culture, motivating others, complex project management, change management, personal routine + wellness ⚡ #LoveWhereIWorked
