Today was a 1st for me, riding in a fully Autonomous Waymo vehicle in Scottsdale. The main question is, are we ready for them?

Have you been in autonomous car yet? What are your predictions?

4 quick thoughts in my first trip from Phoenix airport to IMN.

  1. I initially ordered an Uber, but the driver got lost and cancelled on me after we waited 6 mins.

With Waymo it took 2 mins. I think this becomes even faster as the efficiency increases. An Uber driver can turn down rides, while Autonomous fleets will take every ride so you will see much higher response and efficiency.

  1. It was Easy to spot the car as it knew where I was and had my initials on the top of the car.

This is a game changer for traffic and gridlock.

  1. Safety appears to be a top focus as we never went above the speed limit and stayed in the same lanes. Plus it was an Incredibly smooth ride.

Most Uber rides I feel like I’m in the edge of my seat with tailgating, swerving, or a driver looking at their phones. This was the opposite, instead very calm.

  1. The cost was on par with other car services. I imagine they will roll out various types of cars and wait times with variable pricing.

Love to hear your thoughts and thanks for the faith
