I just found out today that Apple's central client security org (Think: browser, iOS, MacOS, Firmware, chip interfaces, kernel, etc.) is massively #hiring security engineers at all skill levels. I'm still getting the details but it sounds like the kind of vulnerability research org that's going to have an incredibly wide remit to investigate any and all kinds of attacks and will need new tools to do it. There are leadership opportunities as well for experienced managers.

Don't worry that they say Paris. There are several options: Cupertino, Seattle, (NY soon?), Paris, Cheltenham, Israel (Sorry, I don't know the city for that one). There might be some possibility for remote but Apple's pretty old school so I would focus on the locations listed at first, depending on experience.

Our education system accidentally teaches people that:
- Collaboration is cheating
- Teamwork is a chance for someone to drag down your performance
- All work must be done alone
Managers, your new grad isn't going to automatically reach out to their mentor because they want to prove themself. They aren't going to ask the team because they don't even think that's an option. They're going to go heads-down and research a problem until they come up with a solution. It's going to take two weeks when a five minute conversation with their peer would have solved it.
Instead of getting frustrated and firing the new person:
- Set up the mentor to proactively check in with them frequently
- Literally remind them that their team exists to help and that lots of knowledge isn't written in the docs
- Tell them that you expect them to check with the team on any problems that they're having and that doing so will prove skill, not a lack of skill
- Remind them that the team is all professionals and that they aren't going to drag the new person down
- Set your own expectations for their skill at "teamwork" really low at first until YOU help them build it
