There were a multitude of initiatives, including a star-studded ad campaign, supporting the funding of Texas’ film incentive program. The work seems to have paid off as the state’s legislature approved a $200M budget which is currently awaiting Governor Abbott’s signature. The previous budget was capped at $45M and was depleted rather quickly. Texas has certainly lost high profile productions, including “The Walking Dead”, to state’s with more robust incentive programs.
