Highlights
Just wrapped up the 2024 Future of Infrastructure Summitt (FIS) hosted by Fernweh Group here in downtown Chicago.
As a first time FIS participant representing Optym, it was amazing to witness global business leaders within the public and private sector engaging with local and federal government agencies, the investor community and technology solutions providers alike - all collaboratively working together to better understand the forces shaping infrastructure, the role of trends in sustainability and resiliency, with an emphasis on digital enablement and customer preferences. Key takeaways:
🔑 Massive Opportunity: Infrastructure has traditonally been an under invested economic engine, a 3x fiscal multiplier in the states with 1.5% GDP invested, versus 7.4% in China and 3-4% for other BRICS nations. This insufficient investment has led to aging and underperformance, leaving the U.S. infrastricture ranked 13th globally in 2019.
🔑 Collaboration is King: Diverse perspective is paramount and it indeed takes a village to achieve desired outcomes. I'm confident next gen infrastructure is well on the way, though the road ahead is lengthy and full of complex challenges that will require continued meetings of the minds.
Special shout out to Nick Santhanam, Mohit Jaju and extended team members for making this a truly enlightening and equally delightful experience.
