Chris Wu is a multi-faceted entrepreneur and co-founder of Nakano Darling, a Japanese izakaya in Sydney, Australia.23 He is currently the Director at Hatena Group, which operates several Japanese restaurants including Nakano Darling, Yakitori Yurippi, Tachinomi YP, Nomidokoro Indigo, Ramen Auru, and Ichiro's Sports Bar.2
Before venturing into the hospitality industry, Chris had a long career in the music industry. He founded and ran Popfrenzy, a touring/events agency and independent record label, from February 1999 to January 2019.2 During this time, he was involved in booking entertainment at various Sydney venues and organizing events.
Chris's transition to the hospitality world began when he became a regular customer at Yakitori Yurippi and Tachinomi YP, establishments run by Tin Jung Shea and Mitomo Somehara.13 Impressed by their culinary skills and shared love for Japanese drinking culture, Chris joined forces with them to co-found Nakano Darling in November 2019.23
