Christian Brownlees

Associate Professor at Universitat Pompeu Fabra

Christian Brownlees is an Associate Professor in the Department of Economics and Business at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra. He obtained his B.S. degree in Economics and Quantitative Methods in 2003 and completed his Ph.D. in Statistics in 2007 at Università di Firenze. Prior to his current position, he served as a Post-Doc Research Fellow at NYU Stern until 2011. Throughout his career, he has engaged in academic activities at various institutions such as the University of Reading, Monash University, and UCSD.

His research interests revolve around areas such as Nonlinear Time Series, Forecasting, Statistical Computing, Quantitative Finance, Financial Econometrics, and Financial High Frequency Data. Brownlees has a strong educational background, having been a Visiting Scholar at NYU, completed his PhD in Statistics at Università degli Studi di Firenze, another Visiting Scholar at UCSD, and studied at the University of Reading.

In terms of his professional affiliations, he currently holds the position of Associate Professor at Universitat Pompeu Fabra and has previously been associated with institutions like the Barcelona Graduate School of Economics as an Affiliated Professor. He has also held roles as an Assistant Professor at Universitat Pompeu Fabra and as a Post Doc at New York University.
