Christian Lavoie

Christian Lavoie is a seasoned technology enthusiast with a wealth of management, technology, and startup experience.

After a successful 6-year tenure at Google in Silicon Valley, Christian returned to Montreal in 2010, where he made significant contributions to the local startup ecosystem.

Best known as an old-school geek, Christian's early introduction to computing paved the way for his diverse roles, including working on experimental Ads projects, structured Search variants, Ads DB, and Street View data gathering.

Christian's current interests lie in formal methods of software engineering like TLA+ and Alloy, real-time statistical modeling, and data processing pipelines.

Over the last decade, Christian has played a pivotal role in nurturing the Montreal startup community by providing technical due diligence for VCs, offering guidance and services to startups, and co-founding his own startup.

Christian's educational background includes a DEC in Sciences Pures from CEGEP de Sorel-Tracy, a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, and a B.Sc. in Mathematics & Computer Science from McGill University.

Throughout his career, Christian has held key positions such as President and Owner at Sand Reckoning Consulting, VP of Engineering at RenoRun Inc., VP Technology at Acquisio, CTO and Co-Founder at Folders, Senior Software Engineer at Google, Programmer at Equilogue Technologies, Head UNIX Systems Administrator at McGill University's Biomedical Engineering Lab, and Junior Programmer at the Canadian Meteorological Center.
