The State of Wisconsin and the Wisconsin Historical Society (WHS) have a unique relationship with Native Nations in Wisconsin as set forth in the Constitution of the United States, treaties, statutes, and court decisions. The Tribal Liaison diplomatically leads outreach between the Native Nations of Wisconsin and WHS to develop positive relationships and support advancement of the Society’s programmatic initiatives and services by ensuring appropriate tribal input and consultation. This position is a member of WHS’s Senior Leadership Team and reports to the Director/CEO and works within the Office of the Director to support our collaborative work with the Native Nations of Wisconsin as part of our mission of collecting, preserving, and sharing stories. The Wisconsin Historical Society, founded in 1846, ranks as one of the largest, most active and diversified state historical societies in the nation.
