This #WorldHumanitarianDay, as the Chair of PQMD's Disaster and Humanitarian Response Committee, I am honored to acknowledge and celebrate our incredible members across sectors that work tirelessly to address rapid onset disasters and protracted humanitarian crises.

From crises making headlines to those often overlooked, your steadfast commitment to keeping the humanitarian principles front and center, and helping those most in need - often at great sacrifice - is continually awe-inspiring and humbling. Your collective efforts ensure that communities in crisis receive the care and resources they urgently need.

On this special day, I extend my deepest gratitude to all PQMD members, and an extra special thank you to members of the Disaster and Humanitarian Response Committee (the amazing list is now so long that I exceeded the max tagging limit trying to list you all; you know who you are and I appreciate you tremendously!), PQMD staff and fellow board members, for your unwavering dedication and collaboration. You make the world such a better place and I'm honored to know you all.

I was in Manila just days ago and, today, Metro Manila was placed under a state of calamity due to Typhoon Carina (Gaemi) and continuous rainfall from the Southwest Monsoon.

More than 600,000 people are displaced, according to authorities.

We are assessing needs and preparing to respond.
