Richard Stiennon I hope you don't mind my grabbing a link to your newsletter and reposting this! I was noodling on something about the FTC ban non-competes and how that will impact industry analysts like us. You beat me to it and this is a really good look at the #industryanalyst life. Readers can substitute IDC in place of Gartner for workload and work/life imbalance. It's the same. I can't speak for Forrester, 451 Research, Enterprise Strategy Group or others, but I imagine it's similar though with different metrics/quotas. I particularly like Richard's wrap up (and BTW, go subscribe to his newsletter folks!):

"I would not be surprised if Gartner lawyers were huddling with management this week to discuss how to avoid brain drain. Imagine if ten or twenty of the top analysts quit to form their own firm. They could probably get funding to do so. They would need funds to hire lawyers because there are a lot more ways to shut down that kind of competition than enforcing non-compete clauses."

A few thoughts on some of the chats I hope to have at #RSAC2024: AT&T Cybersecurity will perhaps share more detail on the long-awaited split from AT&T Business announced last November. I hope Armis will give me terrific insights on their acquisition of Silk Security. I’ll catch up with Trellix’s CEO Bryan Palma and find out how the company is doing with its #XDR journey (I found a lovely testimonial from Hawaiian-born MSSP Cyberuptive on Youtube). It’s been a while since I’ve chatted with MicroFocus Technologies, now a part of OpenText. I hope to learn how the integration is going and where the company is headed with its CyberRes project. I just chatted with the HP team on their quantum compute firmware announcement and expect to expand my understanding when we meet for coffee. #AIPrivacy will be the topic with SafeLiShare, #APISecurity with Salt Security and I’ll definitely be talking #identity with AKA Identity.
