A friend of mine, Adam Iaizzi, wrote a blog post on the science of rainbows, which taught me about supernumerary bands (a phenomenon I had seen before and wondered about). While much about rainbows can be explained via geometric optics, supernumerary bands are an intereference pattern demonstrating the wave nature of light! #optics #rainbows
