Christine Chen is the former executive director of STREB Inc., a dance organization that she led through the pandemic.2 The company was founded in 1985 by Elizabeth Streb around her organizing principle of “Extreme Action” and refers to its company members as action heroes.1

Chen is a professional dancer turned non-profit executive and consultant.2 She is also the former executive director of the American Repertory Ballet, which she led through a major artistic director change and the 2009 recession. Additionally, she formerly served as Director of Strategic Programming, Dance and Adult Programming for the 92nd Street Y in New York.2

Chen received an undergraduate degree in Sociology from Princeton University, an MFA in Dance from the Ohio State University, and an MBA in Strategic Management from the University of California.1

Currently, Chen is a senior consultant at La Piana Consulting.23 She also serves on Princeton University’s Lewis Arts Center Advisory Council and has served as a grants panelist for NYC’s Department of Cultural Affairs, New York State Council on the Arts, Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, and the National Endowment for the Arts.2
