Christine Holmes
President at Penfield Children's Center
Christine Holmes served as the President and CEO of Penfield Children's Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin from 2008 to 2023.13 She led the organization for 15 years, advocating for early intervention for young children and their families.5 During her tenure, Holmes achieved several key milestones, including securing the first multi-year Kohl's grant, being named a 2013 Woman of Influence, receiving a 2013 Harvard Business School Club of WI scholarship, opening Penfield Montessori Academy, and creating the Penfield Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Plan.5
Prior to her role at Penfield, Holmes spent 14 years with Children's Hospital and Health System as Director of Community Ventures and Advocacy.5 She also worked as Public Relations Director for the Alliance for Families and Children and Prevent Child Abuse America.5
Holmes holds a Master's Degree in Social Work from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.3 Her community engagements included participation in the National Birth – 5 Peer Advocate Roundtable, Bureau of Milwaukee Child Welfare Partnership Council, Wisconsin Alliance for Infant Mental Health, Wisconsin Early Learning Coalition, and The United Way Teen Pregnancy Prevention Oversight.5
Christine Holmes retired from her position as President and CEO of Penfield Children's Center in early 2023.12 She was succeeded by Polina Makievsky, who assumed the role of President and CEO on January 16, 2023.24
