Last week, I had the privilege of speaking at the UCSI Group Mentor Mentee Launch event on the crucial topic of Design Thinking as the way forward. Addressing UCSI management and staff, I emphasised the imperative for companies to innovate. The statistics speak volumes:
• Companies that innovate see 219% higher ROI compared to S&P 500 Index Companies • They're 50% more likely to survive economic downturns • And 3x more likely to maintain a competitive edge over a 10-year period
Innovation isn't just about new ideas—it's about solving problems, old and new, in meaningful ways. We tackled common challenges faced by those new to Design Thinking and explored how this mindset can fuel personal growth and organisational competitiveness. I challenged the audience: "Change is hard, even with full support. What can YOU do to drive innovation for yourself, your team, and UCSI?" In our breakout session, we delved into how adopting an innovation mindset can boost individual impact and organisational competitiveness, and how we might incorporate Design Thinking principles.
