#Bigtable, the OG #NoSQL database just added support for #SQL.
WHAT!?! I swear this makes sense 😀 Essentially, the SQL language has grown with so many great capabilities for working with flexible data schemas (JSON functions, MAP types, etc) that now Bigtable can keep its developer friendly design while allowing anyone that knows SQL to start building highly scalable applications for AI, fraud detection, recommendations, or any other scenario where real time data matters. 🛫

Huge congratulations to the Bigtable engineering team who was able to take one of the largest database deployments in the world (10 exabytes of storage and 7 billion QPS) and add a completely new interface of SQL capabilities with ZERO user interruptions. The Bigtable engineering is wildly impressive and I’ve learned a ton from them already. 🙏
