Christopher Mitchell

Director, Community Broadband Networks at Institute for Local Self-Reliance

Christopher Mitchell is a dedicated researcher and advocate for publicly owned broadband systems, affiliated with the Institute for Local Self-Reliance.

He serves as the Director of the Community Broadband Networks Initiative at the Institute for Local Self-Reliance and plays a pivotal role in highlighting the advantages of community broadband networks.

Christopher is the editor of MuniNetworks.org, a platform that extensively covers wired networks and broadband policies, monitoring and reporting on over 550 communities that have implemented such systems.

He holds a Master of Public Policy in Science, Technology, and Energy Policy from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities and pursued a B.A. in Political Science and Computer Science at Macalester College.

In addition to his current role, Christopher Mitchell has previous experience as an owner of Sport Shot Photo, an eGov Intern at Oregon OSHA, a Research Assistant at the State and Local Policy Program at the University of Minnesota, and a Shift Leader at Half Price Books.
