Clare Akamanzi

Clare Akamanzi boasts 15 years of extensive experience in economic development, focusing on private sector growth, business environment reforms, and Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) promotion.

Her areas of expertise include trade and investment policy, business law and strategy, and economic development policy.

Akamanzi holds a Doctor of Law - Honorary from Concordia University, a Master of Public Administration (MPA) with a focus on economic development and leadership from Harvard University, a Master of Laws (LLM) in International Trade and Investment from the University of Pretoria, and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from Makerere University.

She has held prominent positions in various organizations, serving as the Chief Executive Officer of NBA Africa, a Founding Board Member of the World Health Organization Foundation, Chairperson of the Board of Directors at Aviation and Travel Logistics (ATL), and a Member of the Board of Advisors for the Global Innovation Index 2020 at the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).

Additionally, Akamanzi has contributed significantly to the development of Rwanda, having served as the Chief Executive Officer and Cabinet Member at the Rwanda Development Board (RDB), Head of the Strategy & Policy Unit at the Office of the President, Chief Operating Officer/Deputy CEO at RDB, Deputy Director General at the Rwanda Investment and Export Promotion Agency, 2nd Counselor for economic affairs at the Embassy of Rwanda, and Trade Negotiator/First Secretary at the Rwanda Mission to the World Trade Organization.
