Clif Davenport

Senior Engineering Geologist at State Government

Clif Davenport is a professional Geologist with certifications as an Engineering Geologist and Hydrogeologist in California. Currently serving at the California Geological Survey, he specializes in landslide mapping, GIS data entry, assessing slope stability, and fluvial geomorphology.

With a diverse background, Clif has experience managing teams, implementing coastal erosion programs, and conducting field work in northern California for over 10 years at the California Geological Survey (formerly Division of Mines and Geology). He also spent a significant time working as a private consultant, focusing on assessing fate and transport of contaminants in soils and groundwater, including overseeing the remediation of large groundwater plumes in San Jose and Mountain View.

In addition to his work with the California Geological Survey, Clif also has a background in regulatory affairs, having spent five years at the Department of Toxic Substances Control Division overseeing remedial investigations and cleanup at bond fund sites.

Clif Davenport holds a Master's degree in Environmental Geology with a focus on slope stability, contaminated groundwater fate and transport, and coastal erosion from California State University - East Bay. He also studied at the University of California, Davis.

Currently serving as a Senior Engineering Geologist in the State Government, Clif brings a wealth of experience in geology, hydrogeology, environmental assessments, and remediation projects.
