D. Clinton Williams is currently serving as the Interim Director of the Davis Center at Williams College, a role he has taken on during a period of structural changes within the center. He joined Williams College in 2019 as the Director of Pathways for Inclusive Excellence, where he has been instrumental in developing initiatives that support students from diverse backgrounds as they navigate their academic journeys.13
Educational Background
Clinton Williams holds a B.A. in History and Religion from Oberlin College and a Master’s in Theological Studies from Harvard University. He is also completing a PhD in American Studies at Harvard, which reflects his deep engagement with issues of diversity and inclusion in higher education.14
Professional Experience
Before his current role, Williams has held several significant positions:
- Assistant Director of Academic Advising at the University of North Carolina, Greensboro.
- Director of Retention at Paul Quinn College.
- He has also worked as a lecturer in African American Studies and History at the University of North Carolina, Greensboro.14
In addition to his administrative roles, he has contributed to national discussions on access to higher education and has been involved with various initiatives aimed at improving educational equity.12 His leadership extends to overseeing several fellowship programs, including the Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowship and the Allison Davis Research Fellowship.1
Current Role at the Davis Center
As Interim Director, Clinton Williams is part of the leadership team focused on enhancing diversity, equity, and inclusion within the college environment. His work includes coordinating programs that promote inclusive learning environments and advising students and student groups.35
