In this lovely piece of conversation, actor Jaideep Ahlawat is reflecting a very deep and meaningful message using a metaphor of a Prism.

What he is saying is that a single beam of light can produce a colourful rainbow when it passes through the prism at the most appropriate angle. He is also saying profoundly :

  1. The light is not yours
  2. The rainbow is not yours
  3. You are just a medium

You have to be at a certain angle and it happens all by itself!

This is how coaching works too, when we learn to become a coach, we realise that we need not be a lot of what we already are. Solution doesn't need to come from us, making us let go our being of a mentor which is one of the toughest shifts, the outcomes that we observe are also not ours at all.

When we show up as a Coach, we show up as a reflective mirror, the light when relfected back through it, it passes through the prism (clients mind) and the client if seeing it from a different angle may find thier rainbow. A coach only must help and support this reflection that comes from the client and goes back to the client as the client is the Prism.

Also, to show up as a coach needs a lot of hard work and perseverance as one of the toughest thing to do being a human is to let go, let go of a belief, a value, a perception or a paradigm that we our valued only when we solve things 🦋

It needs some real hardwork and commitment to be a coach, showing up as a coach and not as a mentor or a consultant or a counsellor at all. There is nothing wrong in other modalities but they are not what coaching is ❤️✌️

At Butterfly Coaching Academy, we believe in helping and supporting our coaches to learn to become a Coach first than begin their coaching practice and practice showing up as a Coach more than any other role which they might be playing from long. It's once you learn to showup as a Coach, you can do justice to your coaching practice.
