How many of you are aware of your colleagues taking "quiet vacations"?

This is doubtless a much bigger problem in the US, where personal leave is a ridiculous 10 days on average, and taking time off to recharge is seen as weak. Nevertheless, as the WFH culture settles in globally and employees understand the potential freedoms that brings, quiet vacationing might grow.

The message is not about quiet vacationing, but spotting toxic cultures that people don't want to be part of. If you've created a team culture that colleagues find fun, engaging, and supportive, they won't be looking for a way to take time out to decompress. They will bounce into work each day with a spring in their step.

Anyone willing to own up to a bit of quiet vacationing? Has anyone noticed this outside the US?

In the latest Virtuositeam webinar, Gloria, Hanlie, and I enjoyed a free-flowing discussion about the merits and challenges of using recognition and appreciation in teams. A simple but powerful way to create a harmonious culture, both #recognition and #appreciation can be used to build #trust, #empathy, and #connection. They can be one of the first tools you use to start building trust in a team where trust is lacking. It's an easy skill to develop and in many cases just requires you to practice deliberately, and encourage your team to do the same.

A recording of the webinar is available below.
