Colin Reiter is a seasoned professional with a wealth of experience in Operations and Maintenance of Infrastructure and Buildings. He has held a key position at The University of Melbourne since 2004, overseeing a large team responsible for various crucial aspects including building maintenance, infrastructure engineering, sustainability, grounds management, utilities, contract management, and security.

During his tenure at The University of Melbourne, Colin spearheaded a significant initiative focusing on Backlog Maintenance, which resulted in the identification of $172 million (AUD) in backlog maintenance needs back in 2006. Under his leadership, the university has made strategic investments amounting to $61 million to address the backlog and enhance asset conditions. Colin's targeted efforts have ensured that all buildings maintain a minimum condition rating of 'Good', effectively mitigating the university's risks associated with asset failures.

Apart from his operational roles, Colin is also deeply involved in sustainability endeavors. Through his leadership, the university has achieved remarkable results such as an annual reduction of 33,000 TCO2 e in Greenhouse Gas emissions and a 34% decrease in water consumption. These initiatives have not only led to substantial energy savings of $1.3 million per annum but have also safeguarded the University's Gardens of Significance by establishing an alternative water source during periods of water restrictions imposed by the state.

Colin Reiter's proficiency in Facilities Management has been acknowledged through his role as the President-Elect of the Tertiary Facilities Managers Management Association of Australia. Prior to his current position, Colin has served in important roles, including Director of Campus Services at The University of Melbourne and General Manager of Asset Services at City West Water. He has a background in Civil Engineering, having studied for a diploma at the Caulfield Institute of Technology, which has contributed to his expertise in overseeing diverse and complex infrastructure projects.
