I’m back in my old haunt the United Nations this week chairing the opening meetings of #UNGA for all new delegates, that’s the 193 countries’ young diplomats who arrive in #NewYorkCity to represent their countries’ interests, debate what all countries’ priorities should be, and secure political and financial capital to advance these common goals.  As one diplomat said to me, ‘I think we need more tolerance, we need to understand where the other is coming from’.  While the UN can justly, in my view, be criticised for a lot of things, many people – across different sectors – would benefit from some time in a global setting like this one.  And just as they would, diplomats can and should also get out there in the world, and contribute to making sure their words are put into action. Time is ticking on what needs to get done, and on our expectations of the multilateral system to make real progress. #2030Agenda #leadership #socialentrepreneurship
