== Explain It Like I'm Five (ELI5) ==

Zero-Knowledge (ZK) proofs are called "the endgame" for blockchain scaling because they provide fast, cheap transactions while not sacrificing the security or decentralization of Ethereum at a technical level. They're also widely applicable outside of crypto (shock!)

However, because the concepts underlying ZK proofs are complex to understand (even experts call them "Moon Math" because they're so complicated), people struggle to understand their impact.

Therefore, Matter Labs has started an "ELI5" educational campaign to equip all who are interested with basic intuitions around ZK fundamentals in a fun and engaging way.

It began in Denver with our ELI5: ZKP book which teaches the basics of ZK fundamentals. We've continued it a few weeks ago at EthCC with a limited-release of our video game, "Zeek's Zoo," which teaches ZK circuit concepts.

Our ELI5 look is playful and whimsical, a nod to the original ELI5 notion that came from internet culture. Don't be fooled though: A lot of smart engineers have worked hard on these books and games. All the knowledge baked in the book and game are gateways to greater understanding of this extremely cool and impactful technology.

We're hoping for a wider release of the game soon. In the meanwhile, check out our hype reel...

I’ve been attending ETHDenver since 2020, when Thomas Hay and I taught Intro to Solidity, watched Erik Marks present an early version of MetaMask Snaps and hung with greats like Dennison Bertram.

It was a pleasure to be back there last month for my third installment with zkSync. Highlights included:

➤ Waterloo Blockchain Hacker House panel with Haichen Shen from Scroll and Nicolas Liochon from Consensys

➤ Staffing the incredible zkSync booth and presentations spearheaded by Amy Mayernik and Annie Park

➤ Hosting Raza Zaidi and Francesco Andreolí for an excellent DevRel panel

➤ Learning at the feet of the master Shahar Kaminsky at Gelato Network

➤ As always, hanging with my people, Susie Batt Rob Dawson Clemens Wan Victoria Calmon Corbin Page Elo Gimenez and and and

Until the next one...
