We are growing! Covered is now looking for a full-time RCM lead to run our product and services verticals ! This candidate will fight denied claims, hire and manage a team to assist as needed, and take ownership of revenue goals. This role will also require collaboration with our product team to translate customer needs into features. Requirements: ~10 years+ experience in RCM, experience working in a startup environment + building/managing revenues cycle teams. Please share with your network!

I started Covered after my brother Russell's experience with unfair insurance denials over 8 surgeries during his struggle with Ulcerative Colitis. We are building automation to help providers fight back against the tsunami of (post-service) denied claims. Covered's RCM experts fight denials in exchange for a percent of recovered revenue using software that we are now licensing.

Our software streamlines access to diverse databases and inputs to help RCM specialists identify denial root causes, reducing the time required to file clinical appeals, and will eventually generate appeal letters. The most common feedback we get from Revenue Cycle professionals when they see Covered's platform is, "I've never seen anything like this before", followed by, "I wish I had thought of this!"

As a podcast host, my job is to bring peoples’ stories to life. Early on in the pandemic, I spoke with Physicians (Patrick Kim, Krzysztof "Kris" Laudanski) on the east coast whose hospitals had been overrun by COVID patients. On Healthcare Reimagined, they shared tips for their colleagues in parts of the country that hadn’t yet been overwhelmed about how to prepare a temporary ICU, treat multiple patients in critical condition simultaneously, address staff burnout, and other essential topics. I interviewed entrepreneurs (Israel (Srulik) Dvorsky, Shivdev Rao, Alon Yofe, Zack Gray, Dylan Beynon, Yuri Sudhakar, Danish Nagda, Manav Sevak) who turned personal experiences with opioid addiction, aging parents, cancer, PTSD, depression and other health challenges into companies that are providing the solutions that they and their loved ones desperately needed but didn’t have. I have spoken with health system and health plan CEO’s and executives (Stephen Klasko, Meena Seshamani, Robert Groves, MD, Dr. Nate Link, Ruth Krystopolski) about the systemic changes that various entities within healthcare need to undergo to meet the needs of a post-COVID U.S. healthcare system.

For the first time on the Healthcare Reimagined podcast, thanks to Vanessa Moldovan, CRCR, CPB, CPC, CPPM, CPMA, CPC-I, host of the "For The Love Of Revenue Cycle" podcast (https://bit.ly/44yUxGm), I was able to share my story, and the story of Covered Health. We spoke about my brother Russell Feldman’s experience over 8 surgeries in a year for ulcerative colitis and the unfairly denied medical claims that resulted in nearly a million dollars in bills for my family. We touched on the scale of this problem: ~$450 billion in annually denied medical claims, 2/3 of which are never appealed, and over 50% of which are believed to be overturnable. When providers can’t get paid, it is often patients that pay the price - the number one debt holder to U.S. Hospitals is insured patients.

Payers use technology to deny claims while providers must invest human capital to reverse incorrect denials. We started Covered Health to automate the most challenging and time consuming elements of appealing incorrectly denied medical claims for providers. By streamlining access to diverse databases and inputs, Covered uses technology to help RCM specialists identify denial root causes, and appeal them. You can find links to the episode below:
