Today's jobs report made it pretty much official... the economic tightening cycle we've been living through over this last 2.5 years is coming to a close.
Unemployment has accelerated to a 3-year high.
Job gains have decelerated consistently.
Inflation is still a problem, but has moderated substantially.
Following today's jobs report, it's reasonable to believe that the Fed will make multiple interest rate cuts in the coming months, and we'll start a much longer process of feeling the lagging painful effects of this period of high interest rates, while simultaneously seeing a new appetite for growth emerge from investors.
What's this mean for startups and tech? VC and PE funding is going to continue it's march back to life, and we should see a lot more growth in hiring and spending in general to drive growth.
Watching this all unfold over these last few years has been one of the great lessons of my lifetime. Looking forward to learning from the next 2.5 years.

The real story is the new host, Elizabeth Suto, and how her journey serves as a real world example of the power of skills and recognizing human potential.
2 years and 4 months ago, Elizabeth was an elementary school teacher. She had recently decided to pursue career paths outside of teaching after 8 years in the classroom, and applied for an Administrative Assistant role at Aspireship.
After beating out 800 fellow applicants for the role, Elizabeth dove in head first and became an incredible asset to the team in every sense of the word.
One year later, Elizabeth was promoted to Operations Manager, taking on a more expansive and integral role in how we operate as a company.
As fate would have it, Aspireship acquired the Teacher Career Coach another year later, and the podcast was in need of a new host to carry the mission forward. Without hesitation, Elizabeth threw her hat in the ring.
Selecting Elizabeth to become the new host was one of the easiest decisions I've ever made, but not for some of the reasons you might expect.
The reason was simple. After watching Elizabeth take on countless responsibilities, including many where she had zero prior experience, and excel. She is determined, thoughtful, fearless and thirsty for knowledge.
I knew that no matter what challenges she'd face along the journey, she would keep going until she succeeded, but as it turns out, she's a natural!
I could go on and on about how well she's adapted to this important responsibility, but I'll have you all just listen for yourself.
