- 2024-02-08: Notification to impacted individuals initiated
- 2024-05-06: Listing on LockBit's data leak site for 6 hours
- 2024-05-21: Planned data listing by LockBit did not occur
The plaintiff reported fraudulent charges on their debit card in April 2024, along with a surge in scam and spam communications. The lawsuit does not detail the content of these messages, leaving room for speculation on their connection.
The data that was allegedly taken was divided into three different user groups:
- Employees, of which the plaintiff was a former up until 2014
- Vendors and visitors, persons using the services at airports
- Diplomatic and foreign military customers
The lawsuit concludes with the plaintiff requesting a jury trial.
It will be highly interesting to learn how this all plays out, but for us, it also shows that we cannot and should not trust criminals' words and challenge intentions, data and posting times on leak sites.
